Kathleen Weber, MD, MS

In addition to running a busy primary care sports medicine practice at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush, Dr. Weber serves as the Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine and Women's Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, where she brings a wealth of expertise in diagnosing and treating musculoskeletal issues. She is also the founder and Director of the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship at Rush University Medical Center. Dr. Weber’s contributions extend to the education of medical students, residents, and fellows, and she is the recipient of numerous awards for excellence in patient care and teaching. 

In 2026, she was inducted into the Chicagoland Sports Hall of Fame, an honor that is rarely extended to healthcare providers.  She was named one of the 25 “Women of Influence” by the Chicago Business Journal in 2019.

Renowned as a leading sports medicine physician, Dr. Weber’s reputation is further enhanced by her remarkable contributions to the treatment of high-level professional athletes. She served for 18 years as the head primary care sports medicine team physician for the Chicago Bulls (NBA) and, since 2004, has served as the head primary care sports medicine team physician for the Chicago White Sox (MLB). Additionally, she is the head team physician for the DePaul University Blue Demons and serves as the company physician for the Hubbard Street Dance and is a member of the LPGA Medical Advisory Board. 

Dr. Weber, during her tenure with the Chicago Bulls, was involved in several NBA committees, including the NBA Team Physicians Executive Committee, NBA Research Committee, NBA Combine Medical Advisory Committee, and the NBA Concussion Committee.  She was the first woman to be elected President of the MLB Team Physicians Association.  She is a member of the MLB Draft Combine Medical Advisory Committee and has served on the MLB Medical Advisory Board, the Research and Concussion Committees.

Dr. Weber's involvement in the community is notable; she is an emeritus board member for Girls in the Game, a non-profit organization that enhances sports, leadership, and health education to enhance the well-being of underserved girls and adolescents, and was honored several years ago as their Health Champion. Her academic contributions are significant, with numerous published articles and book chapters reflecting her active role in research. As a former college athlete, Dr. Weber possesses a deep understanding of sports medicine and exercise physiology, which she brings to her clinical practice.  Dr. Weber and her family reside in Chicago.
