Biography

Dr. Burnett is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstructive orthopedic surgery of the hip and knee. He performs routine and complex primary and revision hip and knee reconstructions. Additionally, his focuses include partial knee replacement and direct anterior total hip arthroplasty. He is committed to providing the most up-to-date and effective treatment options to help relieve pain and restore function, enhancing his patients’ ability to participate in desired activities.

Dr. Burnett graduated Cum Laude from Washington University in St. Louis where he played four years on the varsity basketball team. He received his medical degree from the University of Iowa Carver College of Medicine and was selected to both the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society as well as the Gold Humanism Honor Society. He completed his residency at RUSH University Medical Center where he was named the “Best Chief Resident”, voted on by his peers. He completed an additional year of fellowship training at the University of Utah, specializing in hip and knee replacement surgery. Between residency and fellowship, Dr. Burnett was privileged to train under world-renowned surgeons who pioneered minimally invasive techniques, partial knee replacement, direct anterior total hip replacement, outpatient surgery, and complex revision arthroplasty at two of the premier orthopedic hospitals in the United States. He is now an assistant professor at RUSH University Medical Center and enjoys training residents and fellows in adult reconstruction.

Dr. Burnett remains committed to advancing the field of orthopedic surgery through research. His research interests are focused on the biomechanics of hip and knee replacements, revision joint replacement techniques, patient outcomes, perioperative care optimization, and health policy. He has authored numerous publications and has presented at orthopedic meetings both regionally and nationally. He is completing a health policy fellowship with the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons and serves as a peer reviewer for multiple orthopedic journals.

Dr. Burnett enjoys spending time with his wife and loves exploring the outdoors with hiking, fly fishing, and skiing.
