As part of this year’s American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons (AAOS) meeting in San Francisco in February, MOR joint replacement surgeon Dr. Joshua Jacobs, former Chairman of Orthopedic Surgery at RUSH and past president of the AAOS, was honored with the 2024 William Tipton Award, one of the three major annual awards granted by the AAOS which recognizes AAOS physicians who have demonstrated outstanding leadership qualities that have led to benefits for the orthopaedic community, patients and/or the American public. The award was announced at the plenary session during which Dr. Jacobs participated in a presentation entitled “Diversity, Humanitarian and Tipton Award Winners”.
During the meeting, Dr. Jacobs was announced as the President of the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation (OREF), a charitable 501(c)(3) organization committed to improving patients’ lives by funding musculoskeletal research that advances clinical practice. He joins former MOR physician Dr. Jorge Galante who also served in this role.
