Craig J. Della Valle, MD, Immediate Past President of AAHKS received the Rowland W Chang, MD, MPH Award of Excellence at the Arthritis Foundation Freedom of Movement Gala in Chicago recently. Dr. Della Valle was recognized for his years of commitment to the Arthritis Foundation and its mission to fight and find a cure for arthritis.

“I could not think of anyone more deserving of this award than Craig. He has an intellectual curiosity, drive and passion that is unparalleled. We are fortunate to have him as a part of our community, and I am excited to see where he will continue to lead us into the future,” said Denis Nam, MD, MSc, AAHKS member and Arthritis Foundation Board member who presented Dr. Della Valle with the award.


Dr. Della Valle is a native of New York and received his undergraduate and medical degrees from the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He completed his residency at the Hospital for Joint Diseases in New York City. During his residency he spent an entire year devoted to clinical and basic science research in the field of adult reconstructive surgery. Dr. Della Valle also completed a fellowship in adult reconstructive surgery at Rush University Medical Center and Central DuPage Hospital.
