The Residency Program in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center is one of the premier orthopedic training programs in the country. It is exceptional and exposes residents to the entire spectrum of orthopedics. Our department has world-leading faculty from all subspecialties who are devoted to the education of our residents.
The program not only emphasizes developing excellent clinical and surgical skills but also focuses on mentorship and developing residents to be leaders in the field of orthopedic surgery. Early surgical exposure as an intern and increased autonomy with progression in residency training allow our residents to graduate as skilled orthopedic surgeons.
Rotations on services are based on a mentorship model for 5 years which allows each resident to have the same experience as their fellow residents and work closely with attendings to build strong connections that last a lifetime.
A few of the highlights of our program include:
- Top ten ranked program nationally according to U.S. News & World Report (2023-2024)
- The highest-ranked program in Illinois
- World-renowned faculty many of whom are current or past presidents of orthopedic societies including AAOS, ORS, NASS, AAHKS, AOSSM, ASES, MSTS
