Dr. Adam B. Yanke is a fellowship-trained sports medicine orthopedic surgeon with specialized expertise in advanced arthroscopy, shoulder replacement, and a special focus on patellofemoral dysfunction and cartilage restoration. Dr. Yanke earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Miami University in Oxford, OH, where he majored in Engineering Physics and Zoology, with a minor in non-linear mathematics. He completed his medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago, IL, followed by his orthopedic surgery residency and a sports medicine fellowship at Rush University. His fellowship training focused on advanced joint arthroscopy, shoulder arthroplasty, and innovative cartilage restoration techniques.
Dr. Yanke’s dedication to advancing orthopedic care is reflected in his dual expertise in clinical practice and basic science research. He earned a Ph.D. in Biochemistry during his orthopedic training, developing a novel method for analyzing cartilage activity in normal, aged, and damaged states. This research bridges the gap between clinical and laboratory sciences, translating into improved patient care. Dr. Yanke has authored over 50 peer-reviewed manuscripts and book chapters and presented more than 50 abstracts at national and international conferences. He is an active member of several professional organizations, including the International Cartilage Repair Society, the International Patellofemoral Study Group, and was recognized as an Emerging Leader by the American Orthopaedic Association.
In his clinical practice, Dr. Yanke is committed to providing cutting-edge care, including participation in clinical trials involving stem cell injections for arthritis. He emphasizes the importance of non-operative measures when appropriate and integrates his understanding of athletic injuries with a holistic approach to patient care. Dr. Yanke has a personal connection to sports, having been an All-State lacrosse player, and continues to contribute to sports medicine through team coverage for the Chicago Bulls, Chicago White Sox, DePaul Blue Demons, Chicago Riot, and Chicago Force. He believes in building strong surgeon-patient relationships to ensure the best outcomes for his patients.
