Dr. Caitlin Nicholson is a Primary Care Sports Medicine Physician who specializes in the non-surgical treatment of musculoskeletal injuries. She believes that excellent patient care begins with attentive listening and a detailed evaluation. Her treatment plans are individualized to each patient and involve targeted interventions through physical therapy, injections, or bracing to help the patient return to their activities.
Dr. Nicholson graduated cum laude from SUNY Upstate Medical University, where she was elected president of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. She completed her Family Medicine residency at the University of Pennsylvania and served as Chief Resident during her third year. She went on to complete a Primary Care Sports Medicine fellowship at Rush University. During her fellowship, she served as a team physician for DePaul University, evaluating athletes in the training room and providing sideline medical coverage at basketball and soccer games. She also served as an assistant team physician for the Chicago Bulls (NBA), Chicago White Sox (MLB), Chicago Steel, Chicago Union, and as a sideline medical physician for the Trinity International University football team.
Dr. Nicholson has a special interest in endurance athletes and has experience as a medical tent physician at the Chicago Marathon, Philadelphia Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon, and Philadelphia Love Run. Dr. Nicholson is board certified in both Family Medicine and Sports Medicine. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine, the American College of Sports Medicine, and the American Academy of Family Practice. Her practice offers joint and musculoskeletal injections, ultrasound-guided injections, orthobiologic treatments, concussion management, fracture care, and pre-participation sports physicals. She treats athletes of all ages with the goal of helping them return to their activities.
Her interest in sports medicine started during her time as a swimmer at Dartmouth College. She currently keeps active through sprint triathlons and masters swimming when she’s not spending time with her wife and dog.
