Biography

Dr. Blomgren is a highly experienced sports medicine physician and osteopathic practitioner with a comprehensive focus on treating athletes across various levels. He graduated from the Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and completed a Family Practice Residency at Resurrection Medical Center in Chicago, IL. He further honed his expertise with a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Rush University Medical Center, where he collaborated with physicians from Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush. During his fellowship, Dr. Blomgren served as a team physician for DePaul University and Trinity International University, offering injury evaluations and providing sideline coverage for football, basketball, and soccer games. 

Dr. Blomgren is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and also holds certification in Sports Medicine. Currently, he is the Chief Medical Officer and Head Team Physician for the Chicago Red Stars of the National Women's Soccer League. He also serves as an official physician for the Chicago Marathon and the head team physician for Willowbrook High School. 

In his practice, Dr. Blomgren provides a wide range of services including osteopathic manipulation, joint and musculoskeletal injections, fracture care, concussion management, compartment pressure testing, sports dermatology, and sports physicals. He is committed to treating athletes of all ages, from recreational to elite levels, including community, club programs, high-level college, and professional athletes. As a member of the Chicago Sports Concussion Clinic at Rush, Dr. Blomgren is dedicated to delivering top-tier care for sports-related concussions. He actively educates parents, student-athletes, and coaches on current sports issues and injury prevention. 

A former multi-sport high school athlete and collegiate soccer player at Benedictine University in Lisle, IL, Dr. Blomgren has firsthand knowledge of the needs and challenges faced by injured athletes, which enhances his approach to patient care.
