Biography

Dr. Ghannad graduated from Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science before completing her residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Northwestern McGaw Medical Center, Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (RIC). She then pursued a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Northwestern McGaw Medical Center, Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. 

During her training at Lurie Children's Hospital, Dr. Ghannad developed a keen interest in treating child and adolescent athletes, focusing on acute and overuse injuries specific to skeletally immature athletes, as well as sports concussions. She has been a proactive leader in injury prevention and concussion education for athletes, parents, and coaches. 

Dr. Ghannad recently published a review article for the American Academy of Pediatrics on musculoskeletal injuries in adolescents and is currently writing a book chapter on gender differences in pediatric sports medicine. Her education, advocacy, and volunteer efforts have made a significant impact on various organizations. 

An active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Dr. Ghannad is board-certified in Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R). As a physiatrist, she specializes in improving pain and function through non-surgical or conservative management of musculoskeletal disorders in both children and adults. Working with a variety of athletes, conditions, and organizations helps Dr. Ghannad provide the best solutions for all of her patients. 

Outside of work, Dr. Ghannad is an avid recreational runner. She ran the 2005 Chicago Marathon and has served as a medical volunteer at the Chicago Marathon for the past 4 years. She has a special interest in treating runners.
