Dr. Simon Lee specializes in the treatment of foot and ankle disorders, with a strong focus on sports-related injuries, arthroscopy, and reconstructive surgery. His expertise encompasses a wide range of conditions, including total ankle replacements, arthritis, cartilage restoration, bunions, claw toes, and fractures of the foot and ankle.
A native of the northern suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Lee completed his undergraduate education at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana, earning a degree in Biology. He pursued his medical degree at Rush University Medical Center and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois Medical Center. Dr. Lee further specialized by completing a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Carolinas Medical Center with Miller Orthopaedic Clinic (OrthoCarolina) in Charlotte, North Carolina.
In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Lee is actively involved in research and education. He has been an associate editor for the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) journal, Foot & Ankle International (FAI), since 2004. He has contributed to numerous publications through the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS) and AOFAS, focusing on foot and ankle topics. Dr. Lee regularly chairs and moderates instructional courses designed to educate orthopedic surgeons across the United States. He also serves on the Post Graduate Educational Committee for AOFAS and participates in the Rush Orthopedic Department's Residency Selection Committee and Residency Review Committee.
Dr. Lee maintains an active role as a foot and ankle consultant for The Joffrey Ballet, Hubbard Street Dance, River North Chicago Dance, DePaul University, the Chicago Bulls (NBA), and the Chicago White Sox (MLB), as well as various local gymnastics, soccer, and basketball teams.
