Biography

Dr. Lee is a nationally recognized distinguished Professor who has dedicated his career to advancing foot and ankle surgery. As a Professor at Rush University Medical Center, he holds the esteemed positions of Chief of the Foot and Ankle section and Director of the Rush Foot and Ankle Fellowship. 

A native of the northern suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Lee completed the majority of his medical education in Illinois. His undergraduate studies were conducted at the University of Illinois in Champaign/Urbana. He subsequently obtained his medical degree from Rush University Medical Center and completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago. Concluding his training, Dr. Lee pursued a fellowship in foot and ankle surgery at the Carolinas Medical Center, OrthoCarolina in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Dr. Lee is a medical professional specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of foot and ankle disorders. His practice places a strong emphasis on sports-related injuries, arthroscopy, fractures, bunions, and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Lee’s expertise extends to a diverse range of conditions, including total ankle replacements, arthritis, cartilage restoration, bunions/claw toes, sports-related conditions such as Achilles tendon injuries, ankle sprains, and osteochondral lesions, and fractures of the foot and ankle. As a consultant and faculty member in numerous industry and academic courses, Dr. Lee remains at the forefront of current techniques and technology in the field.

Dr. Lee is actively engaged in research and education. For the past two decades, he has served as an associate reviewer for the American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society (AOFAS) journal, Foot & Ankle International. Additionally, he has been a reviewer of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery for over 15 years. He has made significant contributions with numerous publications through the AAOS, AOFAS, and orthopedic literature. Furthermore, he has consistently served on sub-committees for the AOFAS since completing his residency. 

Dr. Lee is dedicated to the education and preparation of future generations of orthopedic surgeons as a member of the Rush Orthopedic Department’s Residency Selection Committee and Residency Review Committee.

Additionally, Dr. Lee serves as an examiner for the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons, ensuring the credentialing and ongoing certification of practicing orthopedic surgeons in the United States.

Dr. Lee maintains an active role as a medical director for The Joffrey Ballet and provides consulting services to Hubbard Street Dance. He serves as the primary foot and ankle consultant for professional teams such as the Chicago Bulls (NBA), Chicago White Sox (MLB), and Chicago Fire and Red Stars (MLS). In addition to his responsibilities at DePaul University, he consults with numerous local universities, dance troupes, gymnastics teams, soccer teams, and basketball teams.
