Sports Performance

What is Sports Performance?

The field of Sports Performance is uniquely positioned to serve patients who have completed treatment and physical therapy but haven’t yet regained the strength, mobility, or confidence to perform their best. Orthopedic care and physical therapy will enable you to complete basic movements again; Sports Performance goes beyond by elevating your general athleticism to help you reach your full potential.

Unlike personal trainers or coaches, the certified athletic trainers who lead Sports Performance at MOR are licensed healthcare professionals with one foot in the medical field and one in the performance realm. Our training regimens are backed by scientific research, developed in collaboration with leading medical experts, and enhanced by the latest technologies. We’ll develop a personalized plan to help you get back to feeling 100% and achieve your athletic and fitness goals.

From Post-PT to Peak Performance

After physical therapy, the Sports Performance specialists at Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush (MOR) work with you to understand your ambitions as an athlete. We evaluate your strength, balance, and flexibility, then design a regimen of functional exercises. Your program may be specific to a challenge you’d like to overcome or a more general, full-body plan to help you perform at your peak.

The Sports Performance Center also utilizes innovative technologies like 3D motion capture, wearable sensors, force plates, and state of the art strength testing devices that provide deeper insight and guide recommendations for all athletes.

By consistently introducing novel stimuli in the form of new exercises, your program will help you turn weaknesses into strengths and see faster results that translate to better performance. Beyond this season, you’ll learn to incorporate these exercises into your daily life, so you can maintain high-quality activity and reduce injury risk for the long term.
